(Headline USA) Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., released a campaign ad over the weekend slamming anti-cop leftist activists and encouraging them to “call a crackhead” the next time they’re in need of help.
In the ad, Kennedy reaffirmed his support for law enforcement and blasted the “woke leaders” who have defunded the police and reduced sentencing for criminals.
“Look, if you hate cops just because they’re cops, the next time you’re in trouble, call a crackhead,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy is up against a number of challengers this November, though the Louisiana race is expected to lean Republican. His top contender is Democrat Luke Mixon, who has tried to blast Kennedy for questioning the results of the 2020 election and aligning himself with former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy’s ad is based on a comment he made last year following the death of Daunte Wright in Minnesota. He argued that, unlike Democrats, he does not believe America “is a racist nation” or that “most cops in America” have racial prejudices against black people.
“Without order, there is no justice. We can’t have a society without order, and we have decided to hire law enforcement officials to maintain order. We hire Whites, Blacks, Browns, men, and women to maintain order. Many of our law enforcement agencies are majority-minority,” Kennedy argued at the time.
“If you decide, just like you want to judge someone solely by the color of the skin, if you want to make a pejorative judgment about a cop — I’ll put it this way: If you hate cops just because they are cops, you don’t know a thing about them. The next time you get in trouble call a crackhead,” he added.
Kennedy’s latest ad comes just days after New Orleans, Louisiana, was rated the murder capital of the U.S.
