(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A dose of justice was served in an increasingly two-tiered system the typically shafts conservatives, when a federal appeals court found on Sept. 13 that a leftist California public school district must reinstate a Christian student group.
The group was canceled specifically because the members professed their Christian beliefs, saying that everyone who wanted to join them must also embrace Christian teaching, including the opposition to the LGBT deviant lifestyle, which was the reason why the district alleged the group was discriminatory, Our Sunday Visitor reported.
In a 9-2 decision, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the San Jose Unified School District likely violated the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ First Amendment right to freely exercise their religion when it revoked its status as a recognized high school student club.
“Anti-discrimination laws undeniably serve valuable interests rooted in equality, justice and fairness,” Judge Consuelo M. Callahan wrote for the court, adding that both these laws and the Constitution protect First Amendment rights.
Callahan added that the district exposed its anti-Christian bias when it limited the membership of the group while not doing the same thing to the secular clubs that discriminate based on sex, race, ethnicity and other criteria.
As part of FCA’s Christian Character and Mission requirements, student leaders must also conform to FCA’s Sexual Purity Statement, which states that “God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness” and that “the appropriate place for sexual expression is in the context of a marriage relationship,” adding that marriage can only exist between one man and one woman, the news source said.
Additionally, the appeals court overruled a lower court’s decision that the group’s requirement discriminated against sexually deviant students.
“Our FCA teams have long enjoyed strong relationships with teachers and students in the past, and we are looking forward to that again,” Rigo Lopez, the local FCA leader for Bay Area schools, said.
Daniel Blomberg, vice president and senior counsel at Becket, the public interest firm that helped represent FCA, also added that the ruling was “a huge win for these brave kids.”
“Today’s ruling ensures religious students are again treated fairly in San Jose and throughout California,” he said.
The leftist school district responded to the ruling by saying that it was disappointed, adding that they won’t give up and continue their fight against Christians.
That wasn’t the only time when Marxists in the education system oppressed Christians. In the past, leftists expressed their desire to shut down Christian schools, called Christians fascists, implemented “gender-neutral” bathrooms and said that Christian teachers should not be hired. It got to the point when leftists were even mocking murdered Christian children.
